Blog Relaunch Day 4: Good Television

Yesterday’s winner was Heather Kelley. Congrats!

Today I’m going to be talking about something we probably all spend too much time in front of: television.  I love TV, I keep saying love a lot this week don’t I?  I’m just a very passionate person about everything, including TV.  There are a lot of really good shows on TV right now, I guess that’s a matter of opinion, but since this is my blog I’m going to go with my own :)

Again, along with books and music, TV is something that I have always enjoyed.  We always watched TV shows as a family growing up.  We would sit in the living room during the week after dinner and watch Full House, Home Improvement, and TGIF on ABC.  We would beg our parents to let us stay up just a half an hour later to watch another show.  As I got older I discovered really good television and shows like SNL and late night talk shows with David Letterman and Jay Leno.

Right now there are several shows that Nicole and I faithfully watch together every week (we both watch some that the other isn’t too crazy about).  We are big fans of NBC Thursdays with Community, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, and Outsourced.  All shows that are either established or have really come into their own this season.  We also are big Gleeks.  Yep, I said it, I love Glee and I’m not ashamed of it either!

If you know anything about me at all you’ll know there is one show that will forever be my favorite show that I watched from day one to the series finale and that I own all 6 seasons of on DVD.  LOST.  One of the best written shows I have ever watched.  It was epic and lots of mythology to it, but it was first and foremost about the characters on that show and the development of those characters. If you have not ever seen it then you need to purchase Net Flix for a few months and watch all the seasons streaming online there, it is worth it.

Recently I have discovered a few shows that I have really enjoyed, one of those being Battlestar Galactica.  Again, it’s a sci-fi show but it’s so much more than that and you honestly forget about that aspect of it because you get so caught up in the characters, their development, and the story of these group of people surviving in the face of great adversity.  Again, all the seasons are on Net Flix.

What are your favorite shows to watch?  Do you have a guilty pleasure show like Glee for me?  Tell me about your favorite TV show right now in the comment section below and I’ll give out another $10 e-gift card from Amazon to one lucky winner.  Comment by 10 PM EST and I’ll announce the winner tomorrow!

Currently, I am watching The Mentalist, Fringe, Detroit 1-8-7, and Human Target. Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. My current favorite TV shows are Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, and Cougar Town. :)

  3. Aaron

Like you, there will never be a replacement for LOST. I’ve always been a fan of the “Law & Order” series. Also, “Top Shot” on the History Channel is one of the few reality TV shows I get into.

  4. My favorite show right now is Fringe. Fantastic show all around. :) . I also like the Office, Parks and Recreation, Outsourced, and Modern Family.

I loved Lost, too! I actually watched it in its entirety after the entire series was over. Gosh, I was hooked!

Now this is a post I can comment on…… Right now here is what I am watching: The Office <3 it!, Modern Family (my new fav!!!!), 30 Rock, Parks & Recreation, Survivor, Glee and Despatate Housewives. My guilty pleasure is
Jersey Shore but it is horrible! We love Netflix and started watching 24 and are enjoying it! I agree with you too Toby, LOST was the best show ever!!!

  6. Wendy Martin-Glick

I am a HUGE fan on NBC on Thursdays-The Office, Community, 30 Rock. I also love Modern Family!!! Guilty pleasure: The Bachelor. Monday nights rock when that’s on!!!

  7. Brandon Lemberg

Well, I am very excited for the Office tonight because the greatest actor of all time will be guest starring for a few episodes. Whether you call him Will Ferrell or Ron Burgandy, he has touched the lives of countless people who are proud to wear an American Flag speedo every once in a while.
I have also set my DVR for Swamp People. You might call that my guilty pleasure, but I don’t at all feel guilty. Who doesn’t like to watch a show about people riding in a boat in the middle of a swamp catching alligators to make a living. The best part is that they have to subtitle the people in the show…..and they speak English.
I was also very excited for Mythbusters new season to start last night, for two reasons. I love myths and I love busting things. Match made in heaven.

I like Intervention, Hoarding, and really any voyeuristic type shows. I love psychology and sociology, so “people watching” is extremely interesting to me. Also, anything medical that is on T.V. I will watch. :)

  9. The Office. 30rock Modern Family, and BONES are my fav shows to watch.

  10. Parenthood is the best show on TV right now. We’ve also watched Harry’s Law and The Good Wife – those are classy shows too.
